Jarrod Allen

3/6/2009

Jarrod Allen is a reporter for News Radio 590 KLBJ. He enjoys being first and live with breaking news, which sometimes gets him into trouble with the police for being in the way. Oops! He has worked in broadcast communications nearly half his life and came to KLBJ-AM in November, 2007 after fleeing the humidity of Houston while at KTRH.  Before that, he anchored overnights at 700WLW, "The Big One" in Cincinnati. Long ago and far away, Jarrod tried television news but after a year, returned to radio. He started as far back as 1994 in the beautiful Hocking Valley outside Columbus, Ohio, which is a lot like the Hill Country. He was a news director in Newark, Ohio during the 2004 election and covered the simultaneous visits of George W. Bush and John Kerry to east-central Ohio on the same day.  He led a news department that would go on to win an important Associated Press award that year.  Now he is very proud to call Austin his home.  You can hear his work every morning during Austin's Morning News and every afternoon while you listen to Jeff Ward's "our little show".  Jarrod specializes in all things transportation; if it moves you around central Texas, Jarrod keeps track of it. He lives along N. Mopac in the heart of toll road country so he can keep a close eye on them for you.  So don't get a headache from Austin's traffic; e-mail Jarrod. He loves talking about it!
