Ryan Poppe is the newest member of the KLBJ news team, but has been with News Radio 590 KLBJ for the last seven years. Originally, Ryan served as the executive producer of “Austin’s Morning News with Mark, Ed and Sgt. Sam” before becoming a KLBJ reporter. Ryan covers various events in Austin and specializes in following cases at the Travis County courthouse. He has covered the hearings for Yogurt Shop murder defendants Michael Scott and Robert Springsteen and accused child molester Billy Dan Carroll. Ryan is originally from the small town of Weimar, (which is just west of Houston), but has lived in Austin for the past 13 years. He attended college at the University of North Texas before transferring to Texas State University at San Marcos. He enjoys camping, hiking and being outdoors with friends and listening to live music whenever possible.
