Jealousy Makes Killer Whales Kill
Jealousy may be the main reason why killer whales sometimes kill.
That’s the case with Tilly, the killer whale at the Orlando Sea World who killed his longtime trainer last month. To understand what drove the mammal to murder, animal communicator Karen Anderson channeled Tilly and discovered that the whale snapped in a fit of jealousy. She explains, “He was very upset that his trainer got distracted and stopped paying attention to him for a moment. He felt like the ...

Austin TV Mom Checks Into Rehab
One TV mom has checked herself into rehab and it’s having quite the opposite effect — she’s more of a druggie than ever. Angela Rawna plays drug addict mom Regina Howard on Friday Night Lights. To nail the gritty role, Rawna — who’s never played a druggie before — checked herself into a real rehab facility in Texas. A former addict walked her through what it’s really like to be a junkie by taking her to the streets where she used to score drugs. Rawna did rehab in full-on character, from dreary clothes to little make-up, but the hands-on research has made her meaty role on FNL much more authentic.
She wants to play a lawyer next so she can visit a courtroom and sit in on trials, though the “good debater” doesn’t need to do much research on how to win an argument. FNL ...

Emmitt Smith Bothered By White Roots
Being white can be disappointing to a black man. That’s what NFL legend Emmitt Smith discovered while studying his ancestry on Who Do You Think You Are?, a show that helps celebrities track down their history and heritage.
There had been rumors of white ancestry in his family and in going through his bloodline, Smith discovered that it’s true. This wasn’t the best news, however, since he found out one of his ancestors was a white slave owner.
He laments, “What bothered me the most is how my white ancestors treated my black ancestors. They looked at them like cattle. Like less than horses.”
Despite the disappointing revelation, Smith is glad ...

It’s Python Hunting Season in the Florida Everglades
Fish and Wildlife officials in the sunshine state hope the special hunting season will help to thin out the population of non-native snakes like the Burmese and African Rock Pythons. Those are just two species of reptiles which are not indigenous to North America but have been appearing more and more in the wild. It’s believed exotic pet owners and breeders have been turning them loose in the Everglades as they grow too big to handle and feed. Officials even think the snakes are cross-breeding and producing offspring that threaten the native wildlife which includes a few endangered species.

Healthcare Better With No Choices?
One helpful medical company is definitely not pro-choice. Help Remedies gives people healthcare in the simplest way possible: By taking away all
of their choices. They sell only one type of pill or bandage to cure mild ailments like headaches, blisters, allergies, and sleep deprivation, and co-founder Richard Fine says one choice is all anyone really needs. He explains, “Healthcare is really confusing. You have a headache and there are 45
different pills you can take. We just want to simplify the decision for people.”
Fine and his team consulted doctors the world over to ensure that Help Remedies’ medicines provide the best possible combination of ingredients for a full and fast recovery. He’s glad to have tackled simple ailments in a user-friendly way but assures he won’t ever attempt to cure the common hangover since all that takes is “going back to bed.”

Haitian officials have said that more than a dozen people across the country have been killed in floods and mudslides in recent days following heavy rains.
There are fears of more deaths if new lakes created by landslides triggered by January's quake burst their banks.
The landslides had formed dams holding back rivers in the hills but rising river levels are now threatening thousands of people who live downstream.

Kangaroo Boxing Upsets Animal Rights Activists
Posted 3/6/2010 1:00:00 AM
A boxing kangaroo – complete with striped shorts and boxing gloves – who has been trading jabs with his clownsuit-wearing owner in a Texas ring has PETA ready to throw a few punches itself.
The scene of the marsupial vs. man match is BorderFest in Hidalgo, Texas, billed as a celebration of all things Australian.
In one corner is Rocky the kangaroo (or occasionally another of his brethren), dressed to brawl in knee-length shorts and with a rope tied around his chest.
In the other corner is his owner, Javier Martinez, who wears a clownsuit.
Martinez and Rocky race around the ring, trading shoves and jabs. If Rocky gets too enthusiastic, Martinez’ wife, Sandra, restrains him via a tether attached to the harness around his chest.
On Friday, Martinez defended his act. "You cannot force a kangaroo to do nothing," he said.
"(Kangaroos) only do what they want to do ...

Pentagon Shooting Update at 5am
The chief of the Pentagon police says the gunman who shot two Pentagon police officers was well armed with two 9 millimeter semiautomatic weapons and several magazines of ammunition.
Chief Richard Keevill said authorities also found more ammunition in the shooter's car, parked in a Washington area parking garage. John Patrick Bedell, 36, of Hollister, Calif., was identified as the shooter. He died Thursday night from head wounds received in the exchange with police.
The two officers injured have been released from the hospital. One suffered a thigh wound and the other was hit in the shoulder. Keeveill said both were superficial injuries. Keevill said they'd found no immediate connection to domestic or foreign terrorism. He said it appeared he had acted alone.

A seventh grader who touched a prescription drug pill while at school has been suspended for a week because of her school's interpretation of their zero-tolerance drug policy.
According to officials at River Valley Middle School in Jeffersonville, Indiana, student Rachel Greer violated their drug policy simply by holding Adderall, an ADHD drug, that a fellow student offered to her and placed in her hand. Despite declining the pill and returning it to her classmate, Greer was in "posession" of a drug and broke the rules, according to a school official.

Atheists offer college students porn for their Bibles
A college atheist group is offering students pornography in exchange for Bibles. Atheist Agenda calls the exchange "Smut for Smut,'' prompting prayers and protests from Christian students at the University of Texas San Antonio campus. Student Monica Cornado says it's offensive to compare pornography to "the Word of God.'' University officials say the atheist group has the right to conduct the swap. UTSA spokesman David Gabler says, "As long as students are not violating laws or violating the Constitution, they have the freedom of speech and assembly.''
