“Quarry Bill” Signed into Law
Newsroom
6/21/2007

Governor Perry has signed a bill giving the Cedar Park City Council more say-so over what happens to a quarry within Cedar Park’s city limits. Lime Creek Quarry near the intersection of 1431 and Anderson Mill Road is owned by the city of Austin. The Cedar Park city council has made it clear they do not want Austin to go ahead with plans to dump lime and other non-toxic water treatment plant waste there. Austin plan to use part of the 200-plus acre site as a place to store residual material from a near-by water treatment plant, set to go online in the near five years. Cedar Park now has the legal right to stop the larger city’s plans, due to the new law written by Representative Dan Gattis, Jr.
