Montford Resigns from Travis County District Attorney's Office
Former candidate for Travis County DA, Mindy Montford has resigned from her post as prosecutor in that office. Montford lost her bid for the Democratic Nomination for the seat in a heated run-off election with fellow prosecutor Rosemary Lehmberg last month. Because there is no Republican candidate for the office running in November, Lehmberg has effective been elected to the seat.

Whole Foods Stock Gets Battered
Shares of Whole Foods Market Inc. are falling sharply a day after the organic and natural foods retailer said its first-quarter profit fell 13 percent, missing Wall Street estimates. The stock fell $3.24, or 9.6 percent, to $30.40 in premarket trading Wednesday and continued dropping after markets opened. The stock was off $3.84, or 11.4 percent, to $29.80 after an hour of regular trading. Company executives say the weakening economy and tougher competition might have curbed their sales growth. The Austin, Texas-based grocer says net income in the quarter ended April 13 fell to $40 million, or 29 cents per share, from $46 million, or 32 cents, a year earlier. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial had predicted a profit of 30 cents per share

The Criminal Records For Austin Teachers
The Attorney General says the Austin school district has to release more information about the criminal histories of their teachers. The district is releasing statistics on where the employees with criminal backgrounds are working, but not the crime they were convicted of. So far, teachers with criminal histories are on every high school campus, all but four middle school campuses and several elementary campuses. Travis High school has the most employees with criminal backgrounds at 18.

Texas Child Protective Services conceded Tuesday a pregnant teen taken from a polygamists' ranch in West Texas was an adult when she gave birth in San Marcos last month, casting some doubt on the statistics released by the agency that more than 20 underage girls were pregnant or had given birth.

A Leander Man is Arrested for Shooting a Child in the Back with a BB Gun
According to the arrest report Robert Cleland told officers the neighbor boy was playing war with some friends near his driveway. He says the situation escalated after the victim's father suggested his son shoot Cleland in the leg.

Police: Interpreter Charged with Improper Acts had Lengthy Past
Austin Police say the interpreter for the Texas School for the Deaf, arrested Friday for alleged sexual misconduct with a student, has admitted to many more similar crimes. Detective Greg White, of Austin's Child Abuse Investigations unit, says Shane Fluornoy, 32, claimed a teenage victim was trying to bilk money out of him.
